HABITAT OVERVIEW

The body of work, Habitat, delves into the intricate relationship between humans and the spaces they inhabit, questioning the world as we perceive it and exploring what might exist beyond our reality. Through a series of surreal and evocative artworks, the paintings juxtapose isolation with unsettling, dreamlike interventions that blur the boundaries between the natural and the human-made.

The central motif of the series is hands — both protective and invasive — that emerge from Icelandic landscapes, dramatic skies, open fields, and organic matter. These hands rip through the elements or seem to mend them, showcasing the fragility of the unknown world beyond. They embody a duality, reaching out to protect while simultaneously disrupting.

Overall, Habitat invites viewers to reflect on humanity’s complex and evolving relationship with the natural world.
